The Rose of Sharon or Mu-gung-hwa (무궁화 - pronounced: moo-goong-hwa) is the Korean national flower and has been treasured by the Korean people since the Silla Dynasty which was unofficially called Mu-gung-hwa Country.  Koreans honor the Mu-gung-hwa  because it has the strength to survive even when cut or transplanted and so represents the strength and resilience of the Korean people.
